WCSC Loses One of it's founders;
a great coach and friend, Harry Olsen

The WCAA, and the Wesley Chapel Soccer Club were awakened by the sad news that one of their most prominent but yet inconspicuous members had passed away.  Harry Olsen was a founding father and executive board member of the WCAA for seven years and a fixture as part of the startup of WCSC as well as one of our initial coaches on our first team (2004-'94/95 boys). His imprint on the community through his generous donation of his time and effort cannot be quantified at this time but surely will be in the coming years, as the children he coached, trained and fostered reach maturity and become the positive role models that he exemplified in his short time with us.
Harry leaves behind not only his lovely wife Sarah, his three children Harry IV, Grace and Anna, but a group of individuals, children and community members who were fortunate enough to be touched by his compassion, devotion and giving nature. Harry’s legacy is not only the growth and development of his own children but of the children of our communities as well.
Memorial Information will be posted as it becomes available and can be accessed by clicking HERE.

WCSC '96/97 Boys Place Eleven Players in
Region C ODP Pool!!

Building on the momentum of last year, the WCSC placed eleven players into this years '96/'97 Olympic Development Program pool (ODP). This is by far the most our young club has ever placed in the Region C pool.  All players selected are currently playing for Robert Bogus' WCSC U-13 boys and will vie for the Florida State ODP team in Jan, 2010.  Congrats to all players selected, their parents and Coach Bogus for a job well done!!

Congrats to our U-16 boy's team who won the U-16 aboys Division II Championship!! See you in D1 next year!!

As a result they will move up to Division I next season!  The team also went to the final championship round of the USA End of Season Tournament. They lost in double overtime as a result of a shootout against Division I regular season co-leader Plant City. This was a big accomplishment as all the teams they faced were from the higher U16 Division I group.

Way to go Coach Patrick Zambito and the U16 Boys!

DA Third DA evaluation day added for those girls who missed the first Two!!
Over 200 upcoming U-7,8,9 boys/girls rec players with birthdates Aug 1st 2000 to July 31st 2003 attended the first two recreational/ Developmental academy evaluation sessions the past couple of weekends at the park. It was awesome to see all of those smiling faces. This was not necessarily a "tryout", but was more to gauge the interest and skill level of those interested. This was also used as the WCAA rec evaluation for all kids for the upcoming season who did not want to participate in the DA.  Thanks again to all who attended.  Those that missed, come to this thir added date for your convenience!! It is Oct 10th, anytime between 10am-1pm at the park.  See you there!!

U-10 Girls Win Plant City Tournament. U-17 Boys Red make strong showing at Score at The Shore Tournament

The U-10 Girls Red team capped a wonderful weekend of soccer by claiming the U-10 championship at the Plant City President's Day Tourny. After going 2-1 in group play, they met arch nemesis West Pasco in the finals.  The girls played brilliantly, beautiful passing and even better defense.  Regulation ended at 0-0 and went straight to shoot out.  Maddy T. tied it 1-1 in penalties and Amanda C. had three amazing saves.  It came down to both teams final shooter, Amanda came through with a great save, and Sareya M. put the last penalty in the back of the net for the win.  This was West Pasco's first and only loss of the season.  Great game and great tournament ladies, coaches and parents!!
Also, the U-17 Boys Red team competed in the prestigous Score at the Shore Tournament and made it all the way to the semi-finals, losing to Striker Premier from Chicago 1-0. The team went 2-2 in group play against premier competition before falling in the semi-finals. The boys played brilliantly during the weekend and represented Wesley Chapel Well.
Congrats to all players, trainers, parents and coaches

It goes without saying that the competitionwas strong.

In only their first year of playing together, they were able to capture second place in their division after coming out victorious against the Naples Sharks with a 5-4 victory, and shutting out the Weston Fury 4-0.  They came up a little short with their only loss after a tough battle against Miami Lakes 5-3. Wesley Chapel Soccer Club Places Three '96 Age Group Boys Into the Region C ODP Pool
Connor Spencer, Bronson Strampel and Tyler FitzSimons are WCSC's first players ever to make the ODP program in our short history as a club.  Florida Youth Soccer Association Olympic Development Program’s main goal is to identify players for The future US men’s and woman’s Youth National Teams.  The primary benefit to the player is to be able to tryout, train, and play against the best players in their age group.  This allows the best players to be alongside other top notch players in order to further their
(Pictured Above-left to right-Bronson, Connor, Tyler)
development.  Only 20 players from the 1996 age group from Region “C” made the Pool.  Region “C” is the largest region in Florida extending from Ocala to Naples and through Polk County. Connor and Bronson play on our U-12 Team and Tyler plays on our U-13 Team.  WCSC and all of WCAA would like to congratulate the players and wish them luck in the upcoming Florida State Pool Tryouts in January.

Badge Bowl Thank You!!

Dear WCAA families- the Foundation of Courage Committee Members representing the Badge Bowl VII would like to send out a heartfelt thank you to you all.  Without the generous donations of all the families toward team baskets this year the raffle would have not been such a great success.  We had so many wonderful baskets to display that night and for those that went to the event you had a first hand view of what incredible baskets the WCAA families contributed.  This year the basket raffles had a few that were very close in number of tickets collect, but the winner for this year was the Wii basket donated by WCAA U6 Burn-Soccer.  Their basket collected over 500 tickets.  The Wolfgangpuck basket came in second.----GREAT JOB ALL.  The U6 Burn coach will be contacted and they will receive a check to be used for the team possible for a year end party.  Thank you again to all the families that contributed especially WCAA Baseball and Softball, WCAA Soccer, WCSC Flames Soccer and WCAA Cowboys Football and Cheerleading.

Thank You for supporting this charity event..

Attached you will find the Proclamation that was presented the night of the Badge Bowl, by the Chief of Police and Chief of Fire for City of Tampa.  The WCAA is mentioned a couple of times in the Proclamation....really neat.  This then is given to the Children's Cancer Center and they will collect all from previous years and will make a wall of them at the Center.
